Women of most any age can get breast augmentation, but the age limit consists of women who are aged 22 years and older. I think the main reason they do this is because by 22 you really should have a responsible idea of if this is something you really want to do or not. Please I mean, this isn’t just a do it and undo it type of thing, it’s something that you are going to have to stick with for a long time coming, so I guess it reduces the amount of woman who go and get a breast “job” and then decide “eh I don’t like this” or “I don’t want this anymore.” Besides the more cosmetic reasoning (sex appeal or body modification for appearance reasoning’s) there are a few reasons why a woman would want to get a breast enlargement or breast reduction surgery done. Some of these reasons are listed below:
Primary Reconstruction – (to replace breast tissue that has been dispatched due to malignant neoplastic diseases such as cancer or trauma or that has failed to produce properly due to a severe breast abnormality)
Revision Reconstruction – (revision surgery to correct or amend the result of an initial breast reconstruction surgery)
Primary Augmentation – (to increase breast size for esthetic reasons)
Revision Augmentation – (revision surgery to correct or improve the result of an original breast augmentation surgery)
Augmentation Procedure:
Common incision locations include the breast crease, in the underarm, or around the areola (pigmented skin surrounding the nipple). Placement of implants beneath the chest wall muscle or directly behind breast tissue using pre-filled implants or implants filled during surgery produces desired volume. Generally executed as an outpatient operation under local anesthesia with sedation; standard anesthesia may be advocated.
Results:
Immediate. Swelling will subside in 2-4 weeks time and the incision lines will continue to flatten and fade for up to one year! Implants may need to be replaced: It’s important to know that breast implants are not designed to last a lifetime. You should plan for an annual examination by your plastic surgeon to see if the implants need to be replaced.
Be sure to always do a routine check up on any and all doctors and or surgeons that you are considering for the procedure and most important make sure the surgeon or doctor has the ASPS (American Society of Plastic Surgeons) member surgeon logo. It’s also important that they are board certified by The American Board of Plastic Surgery or in Canada by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and that they only operate in accredited medical facilities!
